Egypt was governed at different times by both Greece and Rome. The Greek government was known as the Ptolemaic Kingdom which started after the death of Alexander the Great in 323 BC and ended with the death of Cleopatra in 30 BC. Following this period, the Romans conquered Egypt in 30 BC, and Egypt was a province of the Roman Empire from 30 BC to 641 AD.
