This document took the power to tax away from the king and gave the power to the land owners in the form of Parliament. Doing this, decreased the financial power of the king and the use of taxation as a punishment to land owners who may threaten the kings power. This was the first of many steps decreasing the power of the king in England and moving the country to a constitutional monarchy. </span>
