The slope of the line passing through the points (7, 5) and (21, 15) is ???

Mathematics

Answer:

(21,5)

Step-by-step explanation:

To find the slope that passes through the points (7,5) and (21,15) , we use the formula

m = (y2-y1)/ (x2-x1)

 = (15-5)/(21-7)

 = 10/14

 =5/7

We want a slope that is 1/3 this slope so we will multiply by 1/3

5/7 * 1/3= 5/21

We know the slope and one point (0,0) we can use the same formula to figure out x and y

m = (y2-y1)/ (x2-x1)

5/21 = (y2-0)/ (x2-0)

Let the tops be equal and the bottoms be equal

5 = y2-0

5 =y2

and the bottoms

21 = x2-0

21= x2

We have the point

(21,5)

A linear equation in one variable has a single unknown quantity called a variable represented by a letter. Eg: ‘x’, where ‘x’ is always to the power of 1. This means there is no ‘ x² ’ or ‘ x³ ’ in the equation.The process of finding out the variable value that makes the equation true is called ‘solving’ the equation.An equation is a statement that two quantities are equivalent.For example, this linear equation: x + 1 = 4 means that when we add 1 to the unknown value, ‘x’, the answer is equal to 4.To solve linear equations, you add, subtract, multiply and divide both sides of the equation by numbers and variables, so that you end up with a single variable on one side and a single number on the other side. As long as you always do the same thing to BOTH sides of the equation, and do the operations in the correct order, you will get to the solution.For this example, we only need to subtract 1 from both sides of the equation in order to isolate 'x' and solve the equation:x + 1 - 1 = 4 - 1Now simplifying both sides we have:x + 0 = 3So:x = 3With some practice you will easily recognise what operations are required to solve an equation.Here are possible ways of solving a variety of linear equation types.Example 1, Solve for ‘x’ :x + 1 = -31. If f(x) = 2(x - 1) and g(x) =-2x^2
find (fºg)(-4)
vladimir1956 [14]

Answer:

- 66

Step-by-step explanation:

Evaluate g(- 4) then substitute the value obtained into f(x) , that is

g(- 4) = - 2(- 4)² = - 2 × 16 = - 32, then

f(- 32) = 2(- 32 - 1) = 2 × - 33 = - 66
