The correct answer is <em><u>option D.  When Beneatha allows her hair to go back to its naturally curly state, she is clearly showing her interest in her African heritage. </u></em>" A Raisin in the Sun" is a play written by Lorraine Hansberry, that debuted on Broadway in 1959. It tells the life story of a black family as they try to better their lives after receiving an insurance payment for the death of the father. When Beneatha decided to let her hair go back to its natural state, she is not only showing her interest in her heritage, but also accepting herself as she is, and not subsiding to the beauty standards, that are commonly stetted by white communities.

Alex_Xolod [135]
I think that Mrs. Auld followed her husband's advice to stop teaching Douglass to read in My Bondage and My Freedom because WIVES WERE EXPECTED TO OBEY THEIR HUSBANDS.
Douglass was a slave and according to Mr. Auld, slaves do not need to know how to read because they will not be able to perform their tasks well as a slave.
