Let's start with a picture.

We see RST is smaller, and BC is parallel to but in the opposite direction to its corresponding segment ST. Both have slope -1.

If we look at the difference of points (technically called vectors but we don't have to go there) we get

C-B=(-2,2)

T-S=(1,-1)

Without further calculation we can see T-S is half the length of C-B.

The problem asks for a dilation followed by a reflection. We know the dilation scale is k=1/2 because the new triangle is half the size.

After dilation we get A'B'C':

A'(3,2), B'(-1,0), C'(-2,1)

We see now we need a reflection that flips the coordinates x and y. That's the +45° line through the origin, namely y=x.

Answer: k=1/2, y=x

Answer:

  see second attachment

Step-by-step explanation:

ΔRST is smaller, so the scale factor must be less than 1. The only available answer choice is k = 1/2.

When you scale ΔABC by 1/2, you get A'(3, 2), B'(-1, 0), C'(-2, 1). Comparing these coordinates to R, S, T, we find the x-, and y-values are swapped. This indicates a reflection across the line y=x.

____

In the graph, ΔA'B'C' is purple, ΔRST is blue.

meriva

Answer:

Lyrics A

Step-by-step explanation:

Problem statement does not mention anything about conditions of the test, so we dont know if the experiment was correctly done, but we know the kind of problem we are facing here is concerning a normal distribution

Then assuming the test was done by knowledgeable people, which means:

- they got correct information from the population

-sample was big enough

- level of confidence was acceptable for the test ( approximately 95 %) - Alternative hypothesis took into account two tails test

-Test was evaluated according to sample size

-And finally calculations were right

Under the above mentioned conditions, they tested the hypotesis H₀ = μ₀ = 16 ounces and they got results that implies the acceptance of such hypothesis (that means the null hypothesis should not be rejected), and the answer is lyrics A

Consider the quadratic expression given below.
Alex777 [14]

Answer:

4(x + 5)(x - 3)

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

4x² + 8x - 60 ← factor out 4 from each term

= 4(x² + 2x - 15) ← factor the quadratic

Consider the factors of the constant term (- 15) which sum to give the coefficient of the x- term (+ 2)

The factors are + 5 and - 3 , since

+ 5 × - 3 = - 15 and + 5 - 3 = + 2, then

x² + 2x - 15 = (x + 5)(x - 3)

Then

4x² + 8x - 60 = 4(x + 5)(x - 3) ← in factored form

Find the first four terms of the infinite sequence defined explicitly by the following rule.
Nataly_w [17]
The only thing that you should do is to put 1, 2, 3, and 4 instead of the n and then you will get the first four terms!

f(1) = 4(1) - 2 = 2
f(2) = 4(2) - 2 = 6
f(3) = 4(3) - 2 = 10
f(4) = 4(4) - 2 = 14

Have a great day!

20,000 pounds equals how many English tons?
kkurt [141]
2,000 pounds are a short ton also sometimes referred to as an English ton. Your 20,000 pounds are therefore 10 short tons. By contrast the Metric ton is 1,000 kg or 2,204 American pounds. 2000 pounds = 1 short ton 2240 pounds = 1 long ton
