Water is very scarce, or very rare, in Africa which means those living there would have to adapt to that lifestyle. This causes them to have to make changes in order to get the best use of their water. This has affected the development of civilization because they cannot develop into a continent like North America because they do not have sufficient water resources in order to supply those that would be living there.
In an economic system with monopolies and cartels that fix the price of goods, the end result for consumers is that consumers are given worse choices and pay a higher price. This is a result of the lack of competition in the market that would drive prices down and offer more choices to consumers.
