Music degree is a nomenclature created to assist the musician in locating intervals. You have probably heard of "first grade," "second grade," etc. And maybe that sounded weird at first. However, as we will see, this terminology is simple and can be very useful.
Dominant in music theory is one of the degrees of the diatonic musical scale. In tonal music and the major mode of the scales it represents the fifth degree, located between the subdominant and the superdominant degrees.
