Answer:

17 adult shirts were sold

Step-by-step explanation:

x = adult shirts and y = children shirts

x + y = 40......adult shirts + child shirts = 40 total shirts

17x + 13y = 588...$ 17 for each adult shirt (x) + $ 13 for each child shirt (y) = $ 588

these are the equations we will be using.

now lets rearrange the first one....x + y = 40......x = 40 - y.....now sub 40 - y in for x back into the second equation

17x + 13y = 588

17(40 - y) + 13y = 588

680 - 17y + 13y = 588

-17y + 13y = 588 - 680

-4y = - 92

y = -92/-4

y = 23 <=== so there were 23 child shirts sold

x + y = 40

x + 23 = 40

x = 40 - 23

x = 17 <===== and 17 adult shirts sold

check...

17x + 13y = 588

17(17) + 13(23) = 588

289 + 299 = 588

588 = 588 (correct)

A student is working on a project for which he records the revolutions per minute (rpm) for a small electric motor as he increas
Ber [7]

Answer:

See below ↓

Step-by-step explanation:

The relation is :

 • Let y = Motor Speed and x = Voltage
 • y = 25x

Title : Variation of Motor Speed with Applied Voltage

x-axis label : Voltage (volt)

y-axis label : Motor speed (rpm)

As it constantly varies with a value of x and they are not isolated data points, they should be connected with a line.

Ty’s experimental probability of winning a certain game is 1/3. Jana’s expiremental probability of winning the same game is 3/4.
Dafna1 [17]

Answer:

Jana is expected to win 40 more games over Ty.

Step-by-step explanation:

If Ty plays the game 120 times, he is expected to win in 1/3 part of 120 games, which is ( 1/3 * 120 =) 40 games.

If Jana plays the game 120 times, she is expected to win in 2/3 part of 120 games, which is ( 2/3 * 120 =) 80 games.

If Jana is expected to win 80 times an Ty is expected to 40 times, then Jana is expected to win ( 80 - 40 =) 40 more games over Ty.
