Use Newton's Method to approximate the zero(s) of the function. Continue the iterations until two successive approximations diff

er by less than 0.001. Then find the zero(s) to three decimal places using a graphing utility and compare the results. f(x) = x − 2 x + 6

Answer:

S=\left \{ 6 \right \}

Step-by-step explanation:

The Newton's Method to approximate the zeros is useful, despite the fact that it might not work. The key point here is find tangent lines, and applying that formula again and again till it gets closer to the roots.

It fits for any polynomial equation even though it is much more used, to higher degree polynomial.

*For the function given, f(x)=x-2x+6,  since the root is an integer, 6, in few trials we'll find the root, all of them bigger than 0.001 so let's replace th

1) Check graph below.

2) Taking a closer look,  to f(x)=-x+6 we can see that the root is between x=5 and x=7, we already know is -6.

Let's try x=7

Call it x_{1}

Plugging into the formula:

X_{n+1}= x_{n}-\frac{f(x)}{f'(x)} \\x_{2}=7-\frac{-x+6}{-1}\\ x_{2}=7-\frac{-7+6}{-1}\\x_{2}=6\\

x_{3}=6-\frac{-6+6}{-1}\Rightarrow x_{3}= 6

In this function, the root is an integer, all the approximations were integer numbers and  larger than 0.001.

On the other hand, if the function had irrational roots then we could easily show results lesser than 0.001.

8090 [49]

Answer:

x = 11 * sqrt(3)

y = 11

Step-by-step explanation:

Use the ratio of the lengths of the sides of a 30-60-90 triangle.

y = 22/2 = 11

x = 11 * sqrt(3)

nalin [4]

Answer:

900cm^3

Step-by-step explanation:

1 cm= 10 mm

x=300mm (criss cross)

1cm*300mm/10mm= 10mm*x/10mm

30cm=x

30cm=300mm

1m=100cm

0.2m=x

1m*x/1m=0.2m*100cm/1m

x=0.2*100cm

x=20cm

0.2m=20cm

l=15cm

w=30cm

h=20cm

v=l*w*h

v=15cm*30cm*20cm

v=450cm^2*20cm

v=900cm^3

Answer:

Explanatory variable: Extra support by faculties

Response variable: whether community college students who have assess into elementary algebra could be successful if they were placed directly into college-level statistics.

Confounding Variable: Ability of students to get passing grades.

It is an experiment to check if the hypothesis is true.

Step-by-step explanation:

An explanatory variable is a type of independent variable. An explanatory variable is that variable that explains changes in another variable. It can be anything that might affect the response variable. The explanatory variable is used to predict or explain differences in the response variable. In an experimental or research study, the explanatory variable is the variable that is manipulated by the researcher.

From the information given,

Explanatory variable: Extra support by faculties.

The response variable is also known as the dependent/outcome variable. Here, its value can be predicted or its variation can be explained by the explanatory variable. In an experimental study, this is the outcome that is measured after manipulation of the explanatory variable

From the question above,

Response variable: whether community college students who have assess into elementary algebra could be successful if they were placed directly into college-level statistics.

A confounding variable is that outside influence that changes the effect of a dependent and independent variable. This extraneous influence is often used to influence the outcome of an experimental design. The Confounding Variable in the above is:

Confounding Variable: Ability of students to get passing grades.

It is an experiment to check if the hypothesis is true.
