The role that women played in the war effort during World War I was option A. They worked in war industries , manufacturing weapons and supplies.

During World War I, which spanned from 1914 to 1918, large numbers of women were recruited into jobs vacated by men who had gone to fight in the war. New jobs were even created as part of the war effort, such as in munitions factories.

The high demand for weapons led to the munitions factories becoming the largest single employer of women during 1918.
