What impact would you predict the Missouri Compromise to have on white Southern identity? What about on black Southern identity?

It could be argued that the Missouri Compromise technically hurt Southern identity since it prohibited slavery's extension into the unorganized territory of the North West, although it could have helped unite southern black identity due to the fact that blacks had hope slavery would eventually end.

The Great Compromise solved the problem of representation because it included both equal representation and proportional representation. The large states got the House which was proportional representation and the small states got the Senate which was equal representation.
