Answer:

The point A will be  (-8,14) or (-8,-10).

Step-by-step explanation:

Point B has coordinates (1,2) and the x-coordinate of point A is - 8.

Let us assume that the coordinates of point A are (-8,k).

Now, given that the point A is 15 units apart from point B.

Therefore, from the distance formula, we can write that

\sqrt{(1 - ( -8))^{2} + (2 - k)^{2}} = 15

Now,squaring both sides, we get

(1 - ( -8))^{2} + (2 - k)^{2} = 225

⇒ (2 - k)^{2} = 225 - 9^{2} = 144

⇒ 2 - k = ± 12

⇒ k = 14 or -10.

Therefore, the point A will be  (-8,14) or (-8,-10). (Answer)

We know that the distance between two points on the coordinate plane (x_{1}, y_{1}) and (x_{2}, y_{2}) is given by

\sqrt{(x_{1} - x_{2})^{2} + (y_{1} - y_{2})^{2}}.

John swam halfway across a circular pond (radius). He has gone 132 yds. What is the diameter of the pond?
netineya [11]

Answer:

D. 264yards

Step-by-step explanation:

If John swam halfway across a circular pond (radius) and he has gone 132 yds, then the radius of the circular pond is 132yards.

Diameter of the pond = 2×radius of the pond

Diameter of the pond = 2×132

Diameter of the pond = 264yards

HELP ME ASAP PLEASE!!
Daniel [21]

Answer:

set both of them equal to each other:

8x - 8° = 5x + 25°

subtract 5x by both sides of the equations and it becomes:

3x-8° = 25°

now add 8° both sides:

3x = 33°

divide three by both sides:

x = 11°

now thats done to find B:

plug your x value in the B equation:

5x + 25°

5(11) +25°

55 +25°

not sure if you can add here sorry :(. I hope this helped so far :)
