One of the advantages of Articles of Confederation was a weak central government because this meant that the sovereignty and independence of each individual state was maintained.
The Article of Confederation was adopted in 1977 to a young and developing America and this enabled colonial states to come together in times of war and form a central government that could send emissaries abroad and handle territorial issues. This central government was intentionally made weak so the individual colony states would maintain sovereignty and maintain its laws and in a sense be free from unwanted interruptions from the central government.
