Sarah walks 20 feet away from her house and places a mirror on the ground. She backs 5 feet away from the mirror so that she can

see the tip of the roof. Sarah's eyes are 4 feet above the ground. Sarah and the house are both perpendicular to the ground. The angles between the top of the house, the mirror, and the ground and between Sarah's eyes, the mirror, and the ground are congruent as shown in the image below:
Image depicts a mirror on the ground between a person and a house. The mirror is 5 feet away from the person and 20 feet away from the house.

What is the height of the house? Show your work and explain your reasoning in complete sentences.

Answer:

16 feet

Step-by-step explanation:

As said in the problem statement, the angles between the top of the house, the mirror, and the ground and between Sarah's eyes, the mirror, and the ground are congruent.

We also know that Sarah and the house are perpendicular to the ground.

So if we draw a triangle from the top of the house, to the mirror, to the bottom of the house, and another triangle from Sarah's eyes, to the mirror, to Sarah's feet, we get two triangles that have the same angles. Therefore, the triangles are similar, and we can write a proportion:

4 / 5 = h / 20

h = 16

The house is 16 feet tall.

The formula for the area of a trapezoid is a=1/2h(b+b) express b in terms a,h,and b2
Lunna [17]

The area of a trapezoid is
                                          A  =  (1/2) (h) (b1 + b2).

( 'h' is the height of the trapezoid. 'b1' and 'b2' are its two bases.)

You want the equation solved for one base.

                                                 A  =  (1/2) (h) (b1 + b2).

Multiply each side by  2 :                    2A  =  h(b1 + b2)

Divide each side by  'h' :                    2A/h = b1 + b2

Subtract  b1  from each side:    2A/h - b1  =  b2

Sheila can ride her bicycle 6,000 meters in 15 minutes. How far can she ride her bicycle in 3 minutes? please help im retarted
pogonyaev

Answer:

The answer is 1,200 meters

Step-by-step explanation:

So what I did was find the rate so we want to know how much Sheila can do in just 1 minute first so you would have to do 6,000/ 15 which gives you 400 so he does 400 meters in just 1 minute. So then you would have to multiply 400 by 3 which gives you 1,200, making that your answer.

hope that helped!

It is possible to score higher than 1600 on the combined mathematics and reading portions of the SAT, but scores 1600 and above
Citrus2011 [14]

Answer:

The proportion of scores reported as 1600 is 0.0032

Step-by-step explanation:

Let X be the score for 1 random person in SAT combining maths and reading. X has distribution approximately N(μ = 1011,σ = 216).

In order to make computations, we standarize X to obtain a random variable W with distribution approximately N(0,1)

W = \frac{X-\mu}{\sigma} = \frac{X-1011}{216} \simeq N(0,1)

The values of the cummulative distribution function of the standard Normal random variable, lets denote it \phi are tabulated, you can find those values in the attached file. Now, we are ready to compute the probability of X being bigger than 1600

P(1600< X) = P(\frac{1600-1011}{216} < \frac{X-1011}{216}) = P(2.7269 < W) = 1- \phi(2.7269)\\= 1- 0.9968 = 0.0032

Hence, the proportion of scores reported as 1600 is 0.0032.

Stells [14]

Answer:

-1/12

Step-by-step explanation:

3/6 + (-5/6) = -2/6

-2/6 = -4/12

1/4 = 3/12

-4/12 + 3/12 = -1/12
