let velocity of Max is v, and total time t

at 12 mins

distance of Victoria = 3•12•v= 36v

distance of Max = 12v

after 12 mins

distance of Victoria = (t-12)v/3

distance of Max = (t-12)v

since the race was a tie, then

total distance of Victoria = total distance of Max

36v + (t-12)v/3 = 12v + (t-12)v

cancel v from both sides

36 + t/3 - 4 = t

algebraic manipulation

⅔ t = 32

t = 48 mins

Step-by-step explanation:

The double negative automatically makes something positive. Your new expression is 5x^4 + 6x^4.

The only other thing you need to do is combine like terms by adding them together.

When does the net area of a region equal the area of a region? when does the net area of a region differ from the area of a re
stepan [7]

Before answering this question let us know what are net and total areas.

\text{Net area}= \text{total area above x-axis}-\text{total area below x-axis}

\text{Total area}= |\text{total area above x-axis}|+|\text{total area below x-axis}|

Now let us look at first part of our question. Net area of our region will be equal to total area of region when the whole region lies above x axis because then our whole region is positive.

The net area of a region will differ from the total area of the region when some part of our region is above x-axis and some part of region is below x-axis. This is because we have to subtract area of region which is below x-axis from area above x-axis to get net area.
