A freight airline charges a flat fee to airmail a box, plus an additional charge for each pound the box weighs. The graph above

shows the relationship between the wight of the box and the total cost to airmail it. Based on the graph, how much would it cost in dollars to airmail a 40-pound box?

Answer:

  $70

Step-by-step explanation:

The graph goes through the points (0, 10) and (8, 22), so the slope is ...

  (22 -10)/(8 -0) = 12/8 = 1.5

Then the cost of a 40-pound box will be ...

  cost = 1.5×pounds + 10

  cost = 1.5×40 +10 = 70

It will cost $70 to airmail a 40-pound box.

jeyben [28]

The area of the trapezoidal comes out to be 125 square units.

What is trapezoidal?

A four-sided shape called a trapezoid has one pair of parallel sides. It fundamentally resembles a square, rectangle, or parallelogram in two dimensions.

Now, according to the question;

If a trapezoid PQRS of parallel sides PQ & RS has always been divided into 4 triangles by it's own diagonals PR and QS, which intersect at X,

Then, the area for triangle PSX equals which of triangle QRX, as well as the product of triangle PSX but also triangle QRX equals the same of triangle PQX & triangle RSX.

Let area of the triangle PSX is A₁

Let area of the triangle QRX is A₂

Let area of the triangle PQX is A₃

Let area of the triangle RSX is A₄

Then,

A₁ × A₂ = A₃ × A₄

As A₁ = A₂

The,

A₁² = A₃ × A₄

The areas for the triangles;

A₃  = 20 square units

A₄ = 45 square units.

Substitute the values;

A₁² = 20 × 45

      = 900

A₁ = 30

Thus, A₁ = A₂ = 30 square units.

The entire area of the trapezium is;

= A₁ + A₂ + A₃ + A₄

= 30 + 30 + 20 + 45

= 125

Therefore, the complete area of the trapezium PQRS is 125 square units.

Rick has a hole in his bucket. He fills up the five gallon bucket, and it then loses 5 ounces per hour. After how many hours wil
julsineya [31]
You would first have to convert 5 gallons into ounces. There are 128 ounces in 1 gallon. So 128×5= 640. Now you have 640 ounces. Since Rick is trying to see how many hours it will take to be half full, you divide. So 640÷2=320. Now you have 320 ounces. Now we can find out how many hours it will take by dividing by 5. So 320÷5=64. It will take 64 hours to get Rick's bucket to be half full.

Which choice shows the best estimate of the product 0.48×591
alisha [4.7K]
Well, I can't see the choices, but to estimate that, I would round 0.48 up to 0.5, and round 591 down to 590. Then you can just half 590, which results in 295. Hope this helps!
