The samurai culture was based on strict codes of conduct (bushido code) and life philosophy based on honor and moral which was based on absolute loyalty in serving or exclusivity of teaching.  Modernised culture is rather based on democratic processes in which different views and mixed life philosophies are respected.

Explanation:

Samurai were highly educated and extremely and broadly skilled with highly elitistic approach towards others, people and warriors with elements of the superior complex.

Modernised culture cherish values of freedom and democratic processes including elections that are not always based purely in a moral, honor and loyalty, but rather in region and ethnic specific context.
