The answer is the treasury department. The Treasury prints and compile paper currency and coins in dissemination through the Bureau of Engraving and Printing and the United States Mint. They also compile all federal taxes over the Internal Revenue Service, and controls the U.S. government debt instruments. The other two original departments were the Departments of State and War.
