Box #1 : The weakness of the Articles of Confederation was that Congress was not strong enough to enforce laws or raise taxes, making it difficult for the new nation to repay their debts for the Revolutionary war.
Box #2 : During the time at which the articles of confederation were created, the whole independent system of government was new. USA had just gained independence from Britain meaning the leaders did not understand how to fully operate a country. Thus, these articles were created with a fairly weak central government.
