I'm gonna say it's closer to 1/2. Because, if you simplify 5/8, you get 2.5/4, which is pretty close to 2/4, which simplifies to 1/2

Okay well 5/8 in decimal for is 0.625 and 1/2 converts to .5. .6 is only.1 away from .5 but it .4 away from 1 so .625 is closer to .5 than 1. ANSWER: 5/8 is closer to 1/2
