The fat emulsion is a cloudy white solution that is regulated intravenously during parenteral nourishment to prohibit fatty acid depletion. Patients who are incapable to get enough fat through their diet usually because of certain sicknesses, fat emulsions are used as dietary supplements for them.
The nurse should assess the bottle of fat for the divergence of an emulsion into layers, fat globules, the accumulation of froth. If the presence of fat globules in the solution occurs the nurse should not hang a fat emulsion and should return the solution to the pharmacy.
When preparing to lift a patient, you should assess the patient, assess the environment, get the necessary equipment and help you need, and perform the task safely.
