Oxytocin can be defined as a hormone that usually acts on organs of the body which includes the uterus and breast. They can also act as a chemical messenger in the brain by controlling some important aspect of reproductive system such as lactation and childbirth. However, the positive feedback mechanism of oxytocin is that an increase in release of oxytocin will stimulate more contractions.

A cell membrane does not actually maintain homeostasis by itself. The term homeostasis refers to maintaining a relatively stable internal environment inside of a multi-cell organism. Since the internal environment is the interstitial fluid that is around each and every cell, then homeostasis has more to do with what is outside of a cell than what is inside of it. :)
