HEY THERE!!

GIVEN:- Rob is twice Joshua’s age.nick is 5years older than Joshua .the sum of all their ages is 45.

Now let Rob's age = x
Joshua's age = y
and Nick's age = z

Then as according to question:-
x = 2y.......................1️⃣
z = y+5.................2️⃣
x+y+z = 45...............3️⃣

Now from 1️⃣and2️⃣put the value of x and z in 3️⃣
=> 2y + y + y+5 =45
=> 4y + 5 = 45

Subtract with 5 on both sides.
=> 4y = 40

divide with 4 on both sides
=> y = 10

Now put this new value of y in equation 2️⃣
=> z = 10+5
=> z = 15

So Nick's age is 15 years old.

HOPE IT HELPED YOU.

To solve this you would set up a systems of equations using the info provided.
x = Rob's Age
y = Joshua's Age
z = Nick's Age

x = 2y
z = y + 5
x + y + z = 45

Substitute the values for x and z into the third equation to find Joshua's age.
2y + y + y + 5 = 45 Combine like terms
4y + 5 = 45 Subtract 5 from both sides then divide both sides by 4.
4y = 40
y = 10
Since we just want Nick's age, go to the z equation and plug 10 in for y.
z = y + 5
z = 10 + 5
z = 15
Nick is 15 years old!

Suppose you invested $10,000 part at 6% annual interest and the rest at 9% annual interest. If you received $684 in interest aft
victus00 [196]
Assuming simple interest (i.e. no compounding within first year), then
At 6%, interest = 10000*0.06=$600
At 9% interest = 10000*0.09 = $900

Two ways to find the ratio
method A. let x=proportion at 6%
then
600x+900(1-x)=684
Expand and solve
300x=900-684=216
x=216/300=0.72 or 72%
So 10000*0.72=7200 were invested at 6%
10000-7200=2800 were invested at 9%

method B: by proportions
Ratio of investments at 6% and 9%
= 900-684 : 684-600
=216 : 84
= 18 : 7
Amount invested at 6% = 18/(18+7) * 10000 = 0.72*10000 = 7200
Amount invested at 8% = 7/(18+7)*10000=0.28*10000=2800
