Answer:

"Machine guns. Most machine guns of World War 1 were based on Hiram Maxim’s 1884 design. They had a sustained fire of 450–600 rounds per minute, allowing defenders to cut down attacking waves of enemy troops like a scythe cutting wheat. There was some speculation that the machine gun would completely replace the rifle. Contrary to popular belief, machine guns were not the most lethal weapon of the Great War. That dubious distinction goes to the artillery."

Why is summarizing an important skill for historians to practice? Give an example
BartSMP [9]
Summarizing is important because it makes the information easier to understand. for example, let’s say the topic was why we invaded sicily during wwii. i could go into great detail about each of the operations and what their purpose was, going way back in history to find a bunch or causes, picking through every decision made at every level of the army or i could summarize and say we invaded sicily since we weren’t ready to invade germany, and we diverted german troops from russia. what could have been a whole paragraph on the subject was just narrowed down to a sentence. hope that helps :D
