1.B. <span>NAFTA has established the largest trade zone in the world.

The North American Free Trade Agreement has been in force since 1994. But its continued functioning and benefit have been questioned by current US President, Donald Trump.  In an interview on July 1, 2018, Pres. Trump told a reporter, "</span>NAFTA, I could sign it tomorrow,<span> but I’m not happy with it. I want to make it more fair, okay?"  He added that he wants to wait until after midterm elections in the US in the fall of 2018 before making any decisions about a renegotiated NAFTA deal.</span><span>

</span>2.B. <span>To promote the foreign policy positions of the United States.

The trade embargo imposed on Cuba is the longest-lasting embargo in modern history.  It began in 1958 as an embargo on arms sales to Cuba, and in 1960 was expanded to exclude all exports other than food and medicine.  In 1962 was expanded to ban imports from Cuba.  There was an easing of diplomatic relations with Cuba during the Obama presidency and a loosening of travel and business restrictions, but the general embargo remained in effect.  And current president, Donald Trump, has reversed some of the looser policies that Pres. Obama had put in place.

</span>3.D. A decrease in US manufacturing jobs

Under globalization, much manufacturing has shifted to countries where labor can be hired at cheaper rates, thus lowering manufacturer's overall production costs. The United States has been trending toward a more service-oriented economy, with less manufacturing than had been the case in decades past.

Read "Historical Perspectives: What Caused Political Parties?" on pages 142-143. What are the two prevailing views on why partie
maria [59]

The correct answer to this open question is the following.

You did not include the text or a link to it, neither any options for this question. However, we can comment on the following general terms.

If you are talking about United States politics at the beginning of the nation, then prevailing views on why parties formed in the early republic were that since the beginning there were two different views of how to form a government for the United States.

One side was known as the Federalists, led by people like Alexander Hamilton, Jhon Jay, and James Madison. They believed in a strong central government for the new nation. On the other hand, there were the Antifederalists like Thomas Jefferson, who opposed a strong central government because they thought it could derive into tyranny, as had been the case of the English monarchy.

Indeed, that is what President George Washington feared and the reason why he did not support the formation of parties, because they could lead to a divided nation.
