Urbanization and industrialization have a very close relationship with each other. The economy grew due to industrialization and with it, the rise of cities as more moved from farms to cities because of the growth of industries that also provided employment that spurred the migration to urban areas. Even though working conditions were not good, the lure of good pay led to an increase of urbanization as more factories grew in the cities
Americans started moving west in the early to mid-1800s because of the availability of new land for farming. People wanted a fresh start where they can be able to purchase their own land and try other economic possibilities like farming and gold mining. This trend started during the presidency of Thomas Jefferson.
