There are two ways you could calculate slope.

The first is using two points on the line. Plug the coordinates into the formula:

y₁ - y₂ / x₁ - x₂

This is the difference in rise divided by the difference in run, or rise/run. Our marked coordinates are (-2, -3) and (0, 1).

y₁ - y₂ / x₁ - x₂

-3 - 1 / -2 - 0

-4 / -2

The second method is much faster: Look at the graph; count the amount of units the graph rises and the amount of units the graph runs, then divide the former number by the latter number (see attachment).
