The future was uncertain for many reasons. Especially at that time. At the end of the war there was still the issue on what to do with the CSA. Punish them? Or help rebuild? And with Lincoln gone that future was in danger. As well as the African Americans who were emancipated during and after the war.

Any time a president dies in office, the future is uncertain. Nobody knows what his successor will do. In Lincoln's case, the future of slavery was in question, as well as the handling of the postwar confederacy

What was the Battle of Antietam? What effect did it have on the North?
maria [59]
The Battle of Antietam was the bloodiest one-day battle of the Civil War, with over 25,000 casualties total. It was a Union victory, which raised the confidence of Union troops. After a long winning streak, the Confederate troops lost and were forced back.

The documentary “in the shadow of the gold mountain” included negative comments from several politicians in the late 19th and 20
olchik [2.2K]

Answer:

Yes

Explanation:

Politicians back then were very racist and up to today we still have Politicians who are racist but to more then 1 Minority, the documentary talked about a set of laws imposed to single out the Chinese as unwanted immigrants to Canada from 1885 to 1947, to this day we still have laws that have some hold on some Minorities and with the recent being "The battle of voting rights" everyone is well known of what is going on with, and according to a article written by New York times,<em> </em>

<em>"Republicans aggressively fought both the voting measure and the attempt to weaken the filibuster. They accused Democrats of manufacturing a crisis by exaggerating the impact of new state laws in an effort to realize a longstanding goal of gaining more control over state elections — and risking the uniqueness of the Senate to do so." </em><em>
</em>

Another thing that also stood out was this statement made in the same article.
<em>"In a day of sharp exchanges, one of the most dramatic was between two of the Senate’s three Black members, who </em><em>clashed over </em><em>charges by Democrats that the</em><em> Republicans’ opposition to the legislation</em><em> was a </em><em>throwback to the Jim Crow days of denying Black Americans the vote.</em>"

The whole point of this is to stand with my answer being that "yes" politicians would make the same comments, <em>though</em> it may not be the exact words they can still have the same meaning, over the centuries many Minorities have had their fair share with comments from many Government officials and categorized politicians. Though we cannot leave this unseen, the <em>United States president alone having his fair share with racism</em> just shows that the way our government is now days is <u><em>no where near better then from back then,</em></u> and it shows how much power they have, they can say anything they want and pretty much get away with it, IMO I feel the way <u><em>our system is heading is in a circle, comparing and contrasting from today to the way past politics have been has showed similar traits</em></u>. Racism in politics is never ending no matter how many new "justices..presidents..etc.." we get it will always be the same rotation and that is why I feel that politicians today would make the same comments, because nothing has changed from the past Historic events.

Hope this helps !
