Answer:

1st problem:

-1, 2i, -2i

Set the function equal to 0 and divide for x

0=x^3+x^2+4x+4

Subtract 4 from both sides leaving you with

-4=x^3+x^2+4x

divide both sides by four

-4÷4= -1

That is how you get -1

you now have -1=x^2+x^3+x

Solve for x buy finding the square roots of x^2, x^3 and subtracting x from both sides and you get 2i, -2i

Your answer to number one is -1, 2i, -2i

Second problem:

Find the LCD to be able to add these first

The LCD of (x-4)/x^2-2x is

x(x-2)

That is the first side done

The second side's LCD is (x+2)(x-2)

Now you can add the two together

x(x-2)+(x+2)(x-2)=

Your answer in fraction form is

(x+4)/x(x+2)

docker41 [41]

Answer:

a) P(X=5) = 0.065

b) P(X≥1) = 0.928

c) The mean number of repeat offenders is 3.

d) The standard deviation of the number of repeat offenders is 2.

Step-by-step explanation:

n = 25

p = 10% = 0.10

q = 1-p

  = 1-0.1

q=0.9

a) Find P(X =5)

Using the binomial distribution formula:

P(X = x) = ⁿCˣ pˣ qⁿ⁻ˣ

where p = probability of success

           q = probability of failure

           n = total number of trials

           x = no. of successful trials

P(X=5) = ²⁵C₅ (0.1)⁵ (0.9)²⁵⁻⁵

           = 0.0645 ≅ 0.065

P(X=5) = 0.065

b) We need to find the probability that at least one person is a repeat offender which means at most there can be 25 repeat offenders hence, we need to compute the probability for all values ranging from 1 to 25. The easy way to solve this problem is to find out the probability of less than one repeat offender and then subtract the value from the total probability (i.e. 1).

   P(X≥1) = 1 - P(X<1)

              = 1 - P(X =0)

              = 1 - ²⁵C₀ (0.1)⁰ (0.9)²⁵⁻⁰

               = 1 - 0.072

   P(X≥1) = 0.928

c) The mean of the binomial distribution is:

         μ = np

So, the mean number of repeat offenders can be computed as:

μ = (25)(0.10)

μ = 2.5 ≅ 3

The mean number of repeat offenders is 3.

d) The standard deviation of the binomial distribution is:

   σ = √npq

So, the standard deviation of the number of repeat offenders can be computed as:

σ = √(25)(0.1)(0.9)

   = √2.25

σ = 1.5 ≅ 2

The standard deviation of the number of repeat offenders is 2.

6th grade math help me please !
antiseptic1488 [7]

First we have to figure out how much 3 bags cost using the total cost of $8.25

That means. we would do 8.25/3 and 8.25 divide by 3 equals 2.75.

Now we know that each bag costs approximately $2.75

All we have to do now is multiply 2.75 by 4 to get the cost for the total of 4  bags.

4 times 2.75 is exactly 11 dollars, if might change if theres tax.

But, the answer would be 4 bags costs $11.
