Laura is baking a cake. The recipe says that she has to mix 64 grams of chocolate powder to the flour. Laura knows that 1 cup of

that particular chocolate powder has a mass of 128 grams. She added 2/3 cups of chocolate powder to the flour. Should Laura add more chocolate powder to make the exact recipe, or did she go over and by what amount?

To make 1 recipe, Laura needs
  (64 grams)/(128 grams/cup) = (1/2) cup

2/3 cup is more than 1/2 cup, so Laura went over by the amount of
  2/3 c - 1/2 c = 4/6 c - 3/6 c = 1/6 c

Solve each system by elimination. Check the solution in both of the original equations.
elena55 [62]

Answer:

After finding the solution of given equations by elimination method

-3x-3y=12

-9x+3y=-24

we get the value of x=1 and y= -5

Step-by-step explanation:

-3x-3y=12 is eq A

-9x+3y= -24 is eq B

To find out value of x and y we will use elimination method

To find value of x add eq A and eq B

(-3x-3y)+ (-9x+3y)= 12 + (-24)\\-3x-3y-9x+3y= 12-24\\-12x = -12\\dividing \,\,by -12\,\,on\,\, both\,\,sides\\\frac{-12x}{-12} = \frac{-12}{-12} \\x= 1

Now to find value of y put x=1 in eq A

(-3 \times 1 )- 3 y=12\\-3 -3y =12\\\\adding\,\,3\,\,on\,\, both\,\,sides\\-3y=12+3\\\\dividing\,\,-3\,\,on\,\,both\,\,sides\\y= \frac{15}{-3} \\y= -5

so the value of

x= 1

and

y= -5

For checking the solution

putting value of x and y in eq A

-3x-3y=12\\-3(1)-3 (-5)=12\\-3+15=12\\12=12\\

Hence proved

Putiing value of x and y in eq B

-9x+3y= -24\\-9(1) + 3 (-5) = -24\\-9 -15 = -24\\-24= -24\\

Hence proved

How many different 2-digit numbers are there with the following property:the tenth digit is greater than the units digit?
Serggg [28]

Answer:

45

Step-by-step explanation:

Simply start by listing out the numbers from smallest to largest.

We start out with the smallest number following this information being the number 10. The next are 21 and 20. The next are 32, 31, and 30. We can start to see a pattern. If the ten's digit is n, then there are n numbers within that ten-group that have a greater 10's digit than unit's digit. The largest ten-group (90 to 98) has 9 integers following the rules established. Thus, the number of 2-digit integers that have ten's digits greater than units digit is 1+2+3+...+9=45

Yesterday, Pete had 14 shirts. Today, he donated n shirts. Using n, write
Bond [772]

Answer:

14 - n.

Step-by-step explanation:

If he donated 'n' shirts, we can simply subtract 'n' from his initial amount of shirts, which is stated as '14'. Therefore:

'14 - n' is an expression that can represent how many shirts are remaining after he donated them.
