You have noticed that paying higher wages attracts more productive employees. However, you are concerned that there may be a lim

it to this relationship. Some experimentation has convinced you that the relationship between daily wages paid (x) and profits can be modelled by the equation Profit = 50x − 0.5x2 + .001x3 + 200. The range of wages you are willing to consider is from $0 to $500 per day. Determine the level of wages that will maximize profit.

Answer:

The level of wages that maximize tge profit is $61.257

And the correspond value for the profit is:

p(61.257)=50(61.257)-0.5(61.257)^2 + .001(61.257)^3 + 200=1616.502

Explanation:

For this case we have the following function:

p(x)= 50x -0.5x^2 +0.001x^3 +200

Where x represent the daily wages paid 0 \leq x \leq 500, and p(x) the profit, the objective is maximize this function, and in order to do this the first step is derivate the function respect to x and we got this:

\frac{dp}{dx}=50-x+0.003x^2

As we can see we have a quadratic equation now we need to set up equal the derivate obtained to 0 and then solve for the critical points, like this:

\frac{dp}{dx}=0.003x^2 -x +50 =0

We can use the quadratic formula given by:

x =\frac{-b \pm \sqrt{b^2 -4ac}}{2a}

And for this case a=0.003 , b=-1 , c =50

Replacing this we got :

x =\frac{-(-1) \pm \sqrt{(-1)^2 -4(0.003)(50)}}{2(0.003)}

x = \frac{1 \pm \frac{\sqrt{10}}{5}}{0.006}

And we got:

x_1 =61.257 , x_2= 272.076

Now we need to find the second derivate, like this:

\frac{d^2p}{dx^2}=0.006x-1

And we can replace the values obtained:

0.006(61.257)-1 =-0.632

So then 61.257 is a maximum.

0.006(272.076)-1 =0.632 >0

So then 272.076 is a minimum.

So then the level of wages that maximize tge profit is $61.257

And the correspond value for the profit is:

p(61.257)=50(61.257)-0.5(61.257)^2 + .001(61.257)^3 + 200=1616.502

if the firm depiced in figure 5 behaves like a perfectly competitive firm, it will chose the output level of
Mazyrski [523]

The profit-maximizing choice for a perfectly competitive firm will occur at the level of output where marginal revenue is equal to marginal cost—that is, where MR = MC. This occurs at Q = 80 in the figure.

Marginal revenue is the increase in revenue that results from the sale of one additional unit of output.

While marginal revenue can remain constant over a certain level of output, it follows from the law of diminishing returns and will eventually slow down as the output level increases.

<h3>How do u calculate marginal revenue?</h3>

To calculate marginal revenue, you take the total change in revenue and then divide that by the change in the number of units sold.

The marginal revenue formula is: marginal revenue = change in total revenue/change in output.

The Theta of an option is defined as: A. expected change in the option premium for a small change in volatility. B. expected cha
Gre4nikov [31]

Answer: C. expected change in the option premium for a small change in time to expiration

Explanation: The theta of an option is simply defined as the expected change in the option premium for a small change in time to expiration. When all other variables are kept constant, options generally will lose value the closer it gets to its maturity as such, theta of options measure the rate of decline or decay in the value of an option due to the passage of time (quantifies the risk that time poses to option buyers) and is expressed as a negative value.

15. Your company contracted for a 30-second commercial (an advertisement) that aired during the Super Bowl at a cost of $1.2 mil
Diano4ka-milaya [45]

Answer: D) It increases liabilities and decreases stockholders' equity by $1.2 million each.

Explanation:

Even though the company has not paid for the advertisement, the expense has already been incurred and by the Accrual principle of accounting it needs to be recorded.

It will therefore be recorded as an expense which will reduce the Income for the year which is a Stockholder equity account so therefore it will reduce the Stockholder account by $1.2 million.

Because the company has not yet paid for the advert, the amount have to be recorded as a liability to the company so liabilities will increase by $1.2 million.

Dennis_Churaev [7]

Answer:

Explanation:

Sales$439,000

Profit Margin = 6% x $439,000 = $26,340

Tax liability = 34% x $26,340 = $8,956.

Cash flow from operations:

Net income $26,340

Add depreciation $32,000

Deduct net working capital changes -$56,000

Deduct tax liability $8,956

Cash flow from operating activities -$6,616
