Which sentence describes the main idea of this passage? Every so often, I consider simplifying my life and getting rid of my lan

dline phone so that I just have a cell phone. It just seems silly to have two phones, yet something always stops me. Some little voice in my head reminds me that a landline and a cell phone have very different advantages. For example, cell phones may be fully portable, but I still haven't found one that's comfortable to talk on for long periods of time. Also, cell phone reception can cut in and out or even be lost completely. My landline is a solid, quality phone that gets excellent reception. Also, landlines do not need to be charged every day. Friends warn me that landlines are for dinosaurs, but I don't care. Landlines have become outdated because of cell phones. Cell phones are the future of wireless communication. Landlines and cell phones both have advantages and disadvantages. Technology keeps on changing over time, and people need to change with it.

Answer:

For me, the sentence that describes the main idea of this passage is the third one: Landlines and cell phones both have advantages and disadvantages.

Explanation:

I think that all the other options are true as well, but what the speaker is trying to explain in this excerpt is that both -landlines and cell phones- have pros and cons and that is the reason why he/she can't get rid of the landlines in order to simplify his/her life, as he/she says in the first sentence. The main message in this excerpt is the confusion of the speaker when trying to decide whether to get rid of the landline or not, he/she never gets to finally do it because he/she thinks that having a landline is helpful in many occasions.
