We can solve this by expresing their work in rate as how fast they are doing.
Max mows at speed of 1/45
Jan takes 1/90

When we sum those 2 rates we calculate how much will need for them to mow the lawn or in other words their sum to equal 1

1/45x + 1/90 x= 1
3/90x = 1
1/30x = 1
x = 30

Answer is 30

A<br> of a number is a value that, when multiplied by itself,<br> gives the number.
Mariulka [41]

Answer:

In mathematics, we call multiplying a number by itself “squaring” the number. We call the result of squaring a whole number a square or a perfect square. A perfect square is any number that can be written as a whole number raised to the power of 2. For example, 9 is a perfect square.

What is the order of the quadratic functions f(x)=−0.5x2,f(x)=14x2, and f(x)=x2 from the widest graph to the narrowest graph?
Irina18 [472]

Answer:

f(x) =  - 0.5 {x}^{2}  \to \: f(x) =  {x}^{2}  \to \: f(x) = 14 {x}^{2}

Step-by-step explanation:

The given quadratic functions are:

f(x) =  - 0.5 {x}^{2}

f(x) = 14 {x}^{2}

f(x) =  {x}^{2}

We want to order these functions, from the widest to the narrowest.

How wide the graph will open depends on the absolute value of the coefficient of the function.

The smaller the absolute value of the coefficient, the wider the graph.

Since

| - 0.5|   \: <  \:  |1|  \:  <  \: |4|

Therefore from the widest graph to the narrowest graph, we have:

f(x) =  - 0.5 {x}^{2}  \to \: f(x) =  {x}^{2}  \to \: f(x) = 14 {x}^{2}
