Answer:

Spain went to war with England during the Anglo-Spanish war when Phillip II sent a Spanish armada to defeat them, but the severe weather inhibited their efforts and Spain lost.

Explanation:

The Invincible Armada was a squadron assembled by King Philip II of Spain in 1588 to invade England. The Naval Battle of Gravelines was the largest combat in the undeclared Anglo-Spanish War, in which Philip II's attempted to neutralize English influence over Spanish Netherlands policy and to reaffirm hegemony in the war on the seas.

The fleet consisted of 130 well-armed ships, manned by 8,000 sailors, carrying 18,000 soldiers and was destined to embark an army of 30,000 infants. In the combat on the English Channel, the English prevented the embarkation of the troops ashore, thwarted the invasion plans and forced the Armada to return around the British Isles. On the return trip, due to storms, about half of the ships were lost. The armada episode was a serious political and strategic defeat for the Spanish crown and had a major positive impact on English national identity.

Answer:

Louisiana Purchase was the acquisition of the territory of Louisiana by the United States from France in 1803. In return for fifteen million dollars, or approximately eighteen dollars per square mile, the United States nominally acquired a total of 828,000 sq mi. However, France only controlled a small fraction of this area, most of it inhabited by American Indians; for the majority of the area, what the United States bought was the "preemptive" right to obtain Indian lands by treaty or by conquest, to the exclusion of other colonial powers. The total cost of all subsequent treaties and financial settlements over the land has been estimated to be around 2.6 billion dollars.

By its terms the Louisiana Territory, in the form France had received it from Spain, was sold to the United States. For this vast domain the United States agreed to pay $11,250,000 outright and assumed claims of its citizens against France in the amount of $3,750,000.

o-na [289]

Hey there! I'm happy to help!

A primary source is one that is written by someone who experienced the event firsthand. Anne Frank's diary is an example of a primary source. She was the first (primary) person who experienced what happened on that hierarchy.

A secondary source is one that is written about a primary source. It comes second on the hierarchy of receiving historical information because it has to be based on a primary source, which gives the actual information. A history documentary is an example of a secondary source.
