The verified Answer is incorrect.  It's all correct except for the natural law was given to humans by god. William Blackstone thought that. If you don't believe me, that look at  Unit 4, the Enlightenment lesson, slide 30. It clearly says Blackstone believed this.

What did bleeding kansas demonstrated what popular sovereignty was
Nookie1986 [14]
Bleeding Kansas (1855-1861) consisted of millions of dollars in property damage, and dozens dead, due to the onslaught of violence from pro-slavery Border Ruffians who clashed with Free-Staters (jayhawkers) on the matter of slavery. Eventually, this would lead to the voting of slavery's justification in Kansas, but obviously the popular sovereignty was coated in blood.

Why did many Americans consider this act to be a violation of civil rights ?
masya89 [10]

The Sedition Act took away some rights guaranteed in the first amendment. Also many Americans felt that it was unfair that they were forced to fight in a war that was not their own. The U.S. foreign policy at the time was still based on the western countries and eastern countries leaving each other alone.
