Pachacha [2.7K]

Answer:

A lot of Americans were in favor to the expansion of the United States to another territories such as Hawaii. The reasons why Americans supported the annexation of Hawaii is because its natural resources. America were heavily interested on Hawaii mostly for sugar. By taking control of Hawaii, the United Stated would have almost unlimited access to Hawaiian sugar.

Another reason why the US wanted Hawaii was so that they could establish a military base in the Pacific Ocean. Before this time, America didnt have a huge military influence there.

Lastly, America thought that taking over Hawaii would allow them to spread the ideas of democracy to another territory. Americans felt that a democracy is the best type of government, as it gives power to individual citizens. Before the United States annexed Hawaii, they were controlled by a King. With this type of system, the influence of citizens on how the territory was run would be very limited when compared to a democracy.
