In humans digestion starts in mouth (30% starch is broken into maltase). in stomach proteins are broken into peptones and in infants milk proteins are also digested in stomach. and the final digestion takes place in small intestine with the help of different enzymes (trypsin, pancreatic enzymes etc) released from different glands (intestinal glands, pancreatic glands) and finally after the action of all enzymes food is converted into most basic forms of them (frctose = glucose + galactose, proteins to dipeptides or amino acids etc).
