3. Riley finds out that Cooper's Storage and Shipping Company is working with a local business to package some office supplies.

Some of the supplies are packed inside a cube-shaped box with side lengths of 4 1/2 in. . These boxes are then packed into a shipping box with dimensions of 18 in. * 9 in. * 4 1/2 in. . How many boxes of office supplies can be packed into the larger box for shipping? Show your work.

Ok, so the bigger box has sides that are multiples of 4.5 inches:
18in * 9in * 4.5in.
in terms of the cubes that go inside them, the bigger box is:
4 box * 2 box * 1 box, so you know that 8 boxes fit inside.

Answer:

x = 50°

y = 50°

z = 80°

Step-by-step explanation:

working out x:

angles on a straight line add up to 180°

x + 130° = 180°

subtract 130 on both sides

x = 180° - 130°

x = 50°

working out y:

two vertical lines means that both sides are equal, so both angles are also equal (it's an isosceles triangle). This means that y is the same angle as x = 50°

y = 50°

working out z:

the sum of a triangle add up to 180°

add up the angles of x and y and equate to 180°

50 + 50 + z = 180

100 + z = 180

subtract 100 on both sides

z = 180 - 100

z = 80°

RSB [31]

Answer: $542

Step-by-step explanation:

Given the following :

Selling price of refrigerator = $677.50

Markup = 25% of dealers' cost

Dealers' cost of refrigerator =?

Selling price = Dealers' cost + markup

Markup = 25% of dealers' cost

Let dealers' cost = d

Hence,

Selling price = d + 25% of d

Selling price = d + 0.25d

Selling price of refrigerator = $677.50

Then,

$677.50 = d + 0.25d

$677.50 = 1.25d

d = $677.50 / 1.25

d = $542

By first calculating the size of angle LMN, calculate the area of triangle MNL. You must show all your working.
RSB [31]

Answer:

m(∠LMN) = 67.44°

Area of ΔMNL = 16.66 square units

Step-by-step explanation:

By applying Sine rule in the ΔLMN,

\frac{\text{Sin}M}{\text{NL}}=\frac{\text{Sin}N}{\text{ML}}

\frac{\text{Sin}M}{7.2}}=\frac{\text{Sin}38}{\text{4.8}}

SinM = \frac{\text{Sin}38\times 7.2}{4.8}

SinM = 0.9235

M = \text{Sin^{-1}}(0.9235)\text{Sin}^{-1} (0.9235)

M = 67.44°

m(∠M) + m(∠N) + m(∠L) = 180°

67.44 + 38 + m(∠L) = 180°

m(∠L) = 180 - 105.44

m(∠L) = 74.56°

Area of ΔMNL = \frac{1}{2}(\text{ML})(\text{NL})\text{Sin}(74.56)

                        = \frac{1}{2}(4.8)(7.2)(0.96391)

                        = 16.66 square units
