Well, she climbed 87ft up, subtract 39ft from that, and you will get 48ftt, then add the 7ft that she climbed to get to the stream and you will get your answer. does that make sense?

Does anybody know what 4/5 ( + 1) is in standard form?
dezoksy [38]

Answer:

4/5 + 1 = 5/5

Step-by-step explanation:

This is because the bottom number is the denominator and the top number is the whole number. So, when you add a whole number to a fraction, the whole number goes to the numerator, not the denominator.

The equation 4 + 9 = 4 + 9 is an example of which property of equality? *
kenny6666 [7]

Answer:

Reflexive

Step-by-step explanation:

The reflexive property of equality says that a given real number is always equal to itself.

For example :

y = y

a = a

b = b

5 = 5

are all examples of reflexive properties of equality.

4 + 9 = 4 + 9

can be simplified to

13 = 13

Which is explains why it is the reflexive property.

V
frutty [35]

Answer:

BE is 4 units long

Step-by-step explanation:

Data

  • AE = 6
  • EC =  12
  • DE = 18

Given that chords AC and BD intersect at E, then the following equation must be satisfied:

AE * CE = DE * BE

Replacing with data and isolating BE:

6*12 = 18*BE

BE = 6*12/18

BE = 4

One percent of all individuals in a certain population are carriers of a particular disease. A diagnostic test for this disease
Lynna [10]

Answer:

(1) The probability that an individual who tests negative does not carry the disease is 0.9709.

(2) The specificity of the test is 98%.

Step-by-step explanation:

Denote the events as follows:

<em>X</em> = a person carries the disease

<em>Y</em> = the test detected the disease.

Given:

P(X) = 0.01\\P(Y|X)=0.93\\P(Y|X^{c})=0.02

The probability of a person not carrying the disease is:

P(X^{c})=1-P(X)=1-0.01=0.99

The probability that the test does not detects the disease when the person is carrying it is:

P(Y^{c}|X)=1-P(Y|X)=1-0.93=0.07

The probability that the test does detects the disease when the person is not carrying it is:

P(Y^{c}|X^{c})=1-P(Y|X^{c})=1-0.02=0.98

(1)

Compute the probability that an individual who tests negative does not carry the disease as follows:

P(X^{c}|Y^{c})=\frac{P(Y^{c}|X^{c})P(X^{c})}{P(Y^{c}|X^{c})P(X^{c})+P(Y^{c}|X)P(X)} \\=\frac{(0.98\times 0.99)}{(0.98\times 0.99)+(0.07\times 0.01)} \\=0.9709

Thus, the probability that an individual who tests negative does not carry the disease is 0.9709.

(2)

By specificity it implies that how accurate the test is.

Compute the probability of negative result when the person is not a carrier as follows:

P(Y^{c}|X^{c})=1-P(Y|X^{c})=1-0.02=0.98

Thus, the specificity of the test is 98%.
