Answer:

$1,350

Explanation:

The computation of the amount pay or received as a refund at the time of filing the income tax return for the year 2019 is shown below:

As we know that

The Medicare tax rate is 1.45% till $200,000

And, if it is above $200,000 than 2.35% is charged (1.45% + 0.9%)

Now

For individually calculated,

Melody = ($200,000 × 1.45%) + ($50,000 × 2.35%) = $4,075

Todd = ($200,000 × 1.45%) + ($50,000 × 2.35%) = $4,075

So, the total is

= $4,075 + $4,075

= $8,150

Now if they filling their joint return so

Total salary is $500,000   ($250,000 × 2)

Medicare upto $250,000 = $3,625 ($250,000 × 1.45%)

for remaining $250,000 = $5,875 ($250,000 × 2.35%)

So, the Total is

= $3,625 + $5,875

= $9,500

Now the refund is

= Joint return - individually return for each one

= $9,500 - $8,150

= $1,350

July bought a coat for 30% more than the price she wanted to pay. if she paid $250, how much was she looking to pay?
Lelechka [254]
This is the concept of financial mathematics, the amount that July was looking to pay will be found as follows;
Buying price =$250
let the amount July was looking to buy be x
let the percentage amount be 100-30=70%
percentage buying price be 100%
thus the value of x was:
x=70/100*250
x=$175
the answer is x=$175

Expectations of inflation are always greater than actual inflation along the long-run Phillips Curve.
lawyer [7]

Answer:

True.

Explanation:

The statement is “True” because the Philip curve is the curve that exhibits the relationship between the inflation or price level and unemployment. If inflation rises, then unemployment falls. If inflation falls, then unemployment rises. This happens because there is a negative relationship between inflation and unemployment. However in the long run the Philip curve is a verticle line parallel to the inflation axis and that shows there is no trade-off. Thus the option A is correct.

A company uses the weighted average method for inventory costing. At the start of a period the production department had 28,000
yaroslaw [1]

Answer: $4.38

Explanation:

Conversion costs are based on completed units so those units that are yet to be completed will be converted into equivalent units.

Units produced = Units completed and transferred out + equivalent WIP

= 169,000 + (26,000 * 79%)

= 169,000 + 20,540

= 189,540 units

Total Conversion costs = beginning conversion costs + conversion costs added during period

= 103,000 + 726,925

= $829,925‬

Conversion cost per equivalent share

= 829,925‬/189,540

= 4.3786

= $4.38

Interest expense 29,631.32 debit

premium on BP      1,868.68 debit

         cash                     31,500  credit

--to reocrd first interest payment--

Interest expense 29,556.57 debit

premium on BP      1,943.43 debit

     interest payable          31,500  credit

--to record accrued interest at year-end on BP--

Explanation:

procceds                      740,783

face value                     700,000

premium on bonds payable 40,783

When comparing, the firm received more than the face value hence, there is a premium on the bonds as the coupon payment are above the market rate.

Now, the interest will be calculate as follow:

carrying value x market rate:

740,783 x 0.08/2 = 29,631.32 interest expense

cash outlay:

700,000 x 0.09/2 = 31,500

amortization on premium (difference) 1,868.68

new carrying value: 740,783 - 1,868,68 = 738,914

second payment accrual:

738,914 x 0.04 = 29,556.57

cash outlay                  31500

amortization    1,943.43
