Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR) is a methodology for reducing tension in the body's muscles, which also is used to treat psychological stress. PMR helps to relieve tension in major muscles by their progressive relaxation, it is accomplished by tensing group of muscles as breath in, and by relaxing them as breathe out. This methodology may involve an electromyography (EMG) to measure muscle tension. EMG is a diagnostic procedure to determine muscle activity and tension by using electrodes localized on the surface of the skin.
