Answer:

According to the Jewish scripture, monotheism resulted from a covenant between Abraham and the god he worshiped.

Explanation:

The story known as the Abrahamic covenant is found in the book of Genesis beginning in chapter 12 when God calls Abraham to leave his land and go to Canaan where he will make him "a great nation." This was the promise from God to Abraham, who would give him such a great offspring that it would be like counting the stars of heaven, this can be found in chapter 15 of Genesis.

Abraham asked God that in what way his people could legitimately claim the land of Abraham since it was already inhabited by other peoples. This continued with a ceremonial ritual of sacrifice where God told Abraham that his children would be servants in other lands, and thus announced how the people of Israel would be slaves in the land of Egypt but that after four generations they would return to the land of Canaan with great possessions to claim the land that God had promised them.

In the last parts of chapter 17 God formally announced that he would establish an everlasting covenant with his servant Abraham and with all his offspring that would be seen through circumcision, so subsequently all men in Abraham's house were circumcised to establish the covenant.

LuckyWell [14K]

Answer:

Twain believed that obeying is the best policy because if children don't behave, their parents will make them do it regardless. Twain instructs the youth to avoid violence by actually enforcing it upon someone, and then regretting it and apologizing for acting in such an uncivil way.
