A republic is a state in which the power reside with the people. It is a state in which the people are free to elect their representatives who will represent them in the government. The representative derive their power to rule from the people. In other words, we say that sovereignty belong to the people. In this form of government, there is a belief that everyone is equal before the law irrespective of your status in the society. This form of government also guaranteed the fundamental human right of the people as enshrined in their constitution such as the freedom of speech, freedom of movement, right to life,right to personal liberty and so on.
I think the most significant cause of World War one was the assassination of the Archduke Franz Ferdinand. The other causes of the war was Imperliasm, Militarism, Nationalism and Alliances that were formed.
