Answer:

(d) in many samples, the values of the statistic are centered at the value of the parameter.

True we have the two conditions satisfied, centered at the parameter and the expeced value is equal to the parameter.

Step-by-step explanation:

We say that an statistic is an unbiased estimator of a parameter when the expected value of the statistic is equatl to the parameter. Or when the sampling distribution of the statistic is centeres about the parameter.

For example the sample mean \bar X is an unbiased estimator of the parameter \mu the true mean since:

E(\bar X) =E(\frac{\sum_{i=1}^n X_i}{n})=\frac{1}{n} \sum_{i=1}^n E(X_i)

And assuming that X_i \sim N(\mu, \sigma) we have:

E(\bar X) = \frac{1}{n} n\mu = \mu

Other interpretation is that if we select too many samples for the statisitc, the value is centered exaclty at the paramter like for example the sample mean.

With this we can analyze one of the options:

a) the statistic is calculated from a random sample.

That's not an important requirement in order to ensure that statistic is unbiased.

(b) in a single sample, the value of the statistic is equal to the value of the parameter.

False, we need that in many samples the values of the statistic would be equal to the parameter

(c) in many samples, the values of the statistic are very close to the value of the parameter.

False, we need that in many samples the values of the statistic would be exactly equal to the parameter

(d) in many samples, the values of the statistic are centered at the value of the parameter.

True we have the two conditions satisfied, centered at the parameter and the expeced value is equal to the parameter.

(e) in many samples, the distribution of the statistic has a shape that is approximately Normal.

Not an exclusive condition and not necessary.

For a certain race, 3 teams were allowed to enter 3 members each. A team earned 6 – n points whenever one of its members finishe
ololo11 [35]

Answer:

The least possible score a team could have earned is 3.

Step-by-step explanation:

From the given information it is clear that the total number of teams is 3.

Total number of members in each team is 3.

A team earned 6 – n points whenever one of its members finished in nth place, where 1 ≤ n ≤ 5.

It means the points for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th place are 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1 respectively.

Total points that can be earned all teams together = 5+4+3+2+1=15

There were no ties, disqualifications, or withdrawals.

To minimize the score of a team, we have to maximize the score of the other two teams.

It is given that no team earned more than 6 points,

Let two teams earn there maximum score. i.e. 6. So the score of third team is

15-6-6=3

Therefore, the least possible score a team could have earned is 3.

To find the number less than x you have to subtract with the larger number .
8.0-2.5 = 5.5
Find the number that greater than x you have to add those to number
8.0+2.5 = 10.5
So
5.5
