Cindy claims that if there is a variable is in the denominator, the equation three over x plus one over three equals five over s

ix becomes unsolvable. Cindy explains, "There is a value for x that makes the denominator zero, and you can't divide by zero." Demonstrate to Cindy how the equation is still solvable and show all work for full credit.

x = 6

given \frac{3}{x} + \frac{1}{3} = \frac{5}{6}

to eliminate the fractions multiply through by the lowest common multiple of x, 3 and 6 , that is 6x

multiply all terms by 6x gives

18 + 2x = 5x ( subtract 2x from both sides )

18 = 3x ( divide both sides by 3 )

6 = x

As a check

\frac{3}{6} + \frac{1}{3} = \frac{3}{6} + \frac{2}{6} = \frac{5}{6}

Determine the distance between each pair of points. Then determine the coordinates of the midpoint M of the segment joining the
dalvyx [7]

The midpoint is at (3/10 , 3/2 , 4/10)

In the given statement is

To find the midpoint of the line segment joining the pair of points

F (3/5, 0, 4/5) and G(0,3,0)

Midpoint:

The coordinates of the midpoint of a line segment are the average of the coordinates of the end points.

m = (A +B)/2

If we are given three points and we wish to find the midpoint of those points, we need to use the midpoint formula m =(\frac{x_{1}+x_{2} }{2}, \frac{y_{1}+y_{2} }{2} , \frac{z_{1}+z_{2} }{2})

where:

(x1 , y1 ,z1) are the coordinates of the first point:

(x2 , y2 , z2) are the coordinates of the second point:

Now, We are given the three points F (3/5, 0, 4/5) and G(0,3,0)

Solving for the midpoint , we have,

m = (\frac{3/5+0}{2} , \frac{0+3}{2} ,\frac{4/5+0}{2})

m = (3/10 , 3/2 , 4/10)

Therefore, the midpoint is at (3/10 , 3/2 , 4/10)
