there are many parts to a plot. we start with the exposition, where the story starts off. it is basically the introduction to the story, where the characters and setting are introduced. next, we move along to the rising action where tension will build up to the main part of the plot, the climax. the climax is where the main conflict starts happening and that is the most exciting part of a story. after that, the story moves down to the falling action where the conflict may or may not be solved. lastly, we arrive at the resolution where the story concludes. (people do add in cliffhangers to make the story more interesting!!)
