The statement which is false about the intergumentary system is option D. "Keratin is the pigment responsible for skin color."

Even though the skin color of human beings is affected y different substances, the pigment melanin is responsible for it. Melanin is produced within the skin in cells known as melanocytes and it determines of the skin color of darker-skinned humans.

For instance, the skin color of those who have light skin is determined primary by the bluish-white connective tissue placed beneath the dermis and by the hemoglobin which circulates in the veins of the dermis.

The statement that is FALSE about the integumentary system is that "Keratin is the Pigment responsible for skin color"

Further Explanation:

Integumentary system

It is one of the organ system whose functions includes regulating body temperature, retaining body fluids, eliminating waste products and also protecting the body against disease causing pathogens.

Integumentary system is composed of the skin, glands, hair, nails, and nerves.

The Skin

It is the largest organ in the body and the main part of the integumentary system.

The Skin is made up of three layers;

 • The Dermis
 • The Epidermis
 • The Hypo-dermis

The Epidermis

This is outermost layer of the skin with dermis and hypodermis underneath it.

The epidermis covers the whole body and protects the deeper layers of the skin from external environment and mechanical damage.

Specialized cells of the Skin

Epidermis contains some specialized cells that helps in the functioning of the skin.

These cells include;

Melanocytes

They are specialized cells which make a pigment known as melanin. The pigment is responsible for the protection of the skin from dangerous ultra-violet rays from the sun.

Keratinocytes

They are other specialized cells that give rise to a protein known as keratin.

Protein keratin is responsible making the skin tough and water-resistant

Langerhans cells

These are specialized cells whose role is detecting and fighting pathogens that may try to enter the body through the skin.

Merkel cells

Merkel cells are specialized cells that take part in sense of touch.

Keywords: integumentary system, epidermis, dermis, hypo-dermis, specialized cells, keratinocytes, kleratin, melanocytes, melanin, Langerhans cells, Merkel cells.

True or False: Metals have a higher melting point than water.
OLEGan [10]
The more energy needed, the higher the melting point or boiling point . As metals are giant lattice structures, the number of electrostatic forces to be broken is extremely large, and so metals have high melting and boiling points.

i would go with true.

With the proper stimuli, chemoreceptors and mechanoreceptors are depolarized. This is a result of:Sodium channels opening as a r
Alex73 [517]

Sodium channels

Explanation:

Depolarization is a result of sodium channels opening as a result of chemical or pressure-based stimuli

 • Depolarization starts when a threshold stimulus applied on a neuron via Na+ mechanically operated channels that trigger action potential
 • Action potential is an efficient signaling process by which distantly located cells communicate to each other
 • Depolarization of membrane potential is due to influx of Na+ via voltage gated Na+ channels
 • Fast opening of voltage gated Na+ channel shifts membrane potential from -70mV to + 50mV at which voltage gated Na+ channels become inactive thus influx of Na+ abruptly stops

Scientists have evidence that meteorites have come from which option of locations?
Step2247 [10]

Mars and Moon are the locations from which meteorites would come.

Option (c);

EXPLANATION:

 • The meteorites found on Earth look like martian crystal rocks.
 • These might be first ejected into space during a collision of an asteroidal object with Moon or Mars and then it got into the Earth orbit because of the force produced during the collision.
 • There are around seventy meteorites recognised to have come from the planet Mars till up to the present date.
 • There are three types of meteorites such as Martian meteorites and a sample of two lunar meteorites.
 • To identify the origin of the meteorite, the scientist tries to identify the type of rock followed by analysing the chemical composition and then try to identify its age.
