Simplify each given equation and show your work. Tell whether it has one solution, an infinite number of solutions, or no soluti

ons, and identify each equation as an identity, a contradiction, or neither. Explain your answers.
(a)6x + 2(2x – 3) = 24 + 9x
(b)25 – 4x = 3(5 – x) + 10 – x
(c)4(x + 2) = 2x + 7 + 2(x – 10)

A) The answer is one solution, neither

6x + 2(2x - 3) = 24 + 9x
6x + 2 * 2x + 2 * (-3) = 24 + 9x
6x + 4x - 6 = 24 + 9x
10x - 6 = 24 + 9x
10x - 9x = 24 + 6
x = 30

b) The answer is infinity solutions, identity
<span>25 – 4x = 3(5 – x) + 10 – x
25 - 4x = 3 * 5 - 3 * x + 10 - x
25 - 4x = 15 - 3x + 10 - x
25 - 4x = 25 - 4x
4x - 4x = 25 - 25
0x = 0

x can be any number, so an infinite number of solution

c) The answer is no solution, contradiction

</span><span>4(x + 2) = 2x + 7 + 2(x – 10)
4 * x + 4 * 2 = 2x + 7 + 2 * x - 2 * 10
4x + 8 = 2x + 7 + 2x - 20
4x + 8 = 4x - 13
4x - 4x = - 8 - 13
0 = -13

this is contradiction</span>

Which triangles are congruent by SAS?
boyakko [2]

Answer:

Option A

Triangles ABC and TUV

Step-by-step explanation:

Given three triangles ABC , FGH and TUV

For triangles ABC and FGH, given that

DF =AB

DH = AC

and angle F = angle A

This cannot be taken as SAS congruence because the angle F is not included between the equal sides.  Two triangles can be congruent by SAS only if two sides and included angle are congruent.

For triangles ABC and TUV we have AB=TU, AC = TV and

included angles between these sides are equal.

So these two triangles are congruent

We write corresponding sides only in order Hence ABC = TUV

and Not VTU =ABC

So option A is true.

Determine whether each equation below is linear or nonlinear.
Kruka [31]

Answer:

A) y=\frac{1}{2}x+3 - Linear

B) y=4x+2 - Linear

C) xy=12 - Nonlinear

Step-by-step explanation:

To determine whether a function is linear or nonlinear.

The function of a straight line is given as :

y=mx+b

where m represents slope of line and b represents the y-intercept.

Any function that can be represented as a function of straight line is called a linear function otherwise it is nonlinear.

We will check the equations given for linear or nonlinear.

A) y=\frac{1}{2}x+3

The function is in the form y=mx+b and hence it is a linear function with slope m=\frac{1}{2} and y-intercept b=3.

B) y=4x+2

The function is in the form y=mx+b and hence it is a linear function with slope m=4 and y-intercept b=2.

C) xy=12

On solving for y

Dividing both sides by  x

\frac{xy}{x}=\frac{12}{x}

y=\frac{12}{x}

This function cannot be represented in the form y=mx+b, hence it is a nonlinear function.
