The animal shelter is building cages for 26 dogs and 34 cats.

26 + 34 = 60

It needs to build 60 cages.

The first crew builds 1 cage in 1 hour. Rate: 1 cage/hour

The second crew builds 1 cage in 2 hours, or 1/2 cage in 1 hour. Rate: 1/2 cage/hour

They work together for x hours and build all 60 cages.

In x hours, the first crew builds 1 cage/hour * x hours = x cages.

In x hours, the second crew builds 1/2 cage/hour * x hours = 1/2 x cages.

Combined, they build 60 cages.

x + 1/2 x = 60

x + 0.5x = 60

1.5x = 60

x = 40

Answer: It will take 40 hours.

Check: In 40 hours, the first crew builds 40 cages.

In 40 hours, the second crew builds 20 cages.

40 + 20 = 60

In 40 hours, the two crews build 60 cages.

Our answer above is correct.

All together, the shelter needs (26 + 34) = 60 new cages built.

Crew #1 builds a cage in 1 hour.  They finish 1 cage/hour.

Crew #2 builds a cage in 2 hours.  They finish  1/2 cage/hour.

When both crews work, they finish (1 + 1/2) = 1.5 cage/hour.

To build 60 cages, it will take them

(60 cages) / (1.5 cage/hour) =

(60 cages) ÷ (1.5 cage/hour) =

(60 cages) x (hour / 1.5 cage) =

(60 cage-hour) / (1.5 cage) =

(60 / 1.5) (cage·hour/cage) =

40 hours

Calculate f(x) for the given domain values.
Maksim231197 [3]

Answer:

See explanation

Step-by-step explanation:

1. The given function is

f(x) = - 3x

The domain values are: x=0, 2, -1, 4, -2

When x=0

f(0) = - 3 \times 0 = 0

When x=2,

f(x) = - 3 \times 2 = - 6

When x=-1

f(x) = - 3 \times - 1 = 3

When x=4

f(4) = - 3 \times 4 = - 12

When x=-2

f( - 2) = - 3 \times - 2 = 6

2. The given function is

f(x) = \frac{1}{3} x

When x=3,

f(3) = \frac{1}{3} \times 3 = 1

Similarly,

f( - 3) = \frac{1}{3} \times - 3 = - 1

f(300) = \frac{1}{3} \times 300 = 100

f( - 180) = \frac{1}{3} \times - 180 = - 60

f(99) = \frac{1}{3} \times 99 = 33

What is 5m2- 15m- 200
vitfil [10]

Answer:

5(m + 5) (m - 8)

Step-by-step explanation:

5m2- 15m- 200

Start by pulling 5 out.

5(m^2 - 3m - 40)

We consider all factors of 40

1    40

2   20

4    10

5     8

Based on the middle term we know that 5   and 8 are our best option.

5(m     5) (m     8)

We know the signs have to be one + and one -  because a - * - = + and + * + = +

Since 5 - 8 would give us -3 we know that our answer is

5(m + 5) (m - 8)

One pound of grapes costs $1.55. Which equation correctly shows a pair of equivalent ratios that can be used to find the cost of
stira [4]

Answer:

StartFraction 1.55 over 1 EndFraction = StartFraction x over 3.5 EndFraction

Step-by-step explanation:

\frac{1.55}{1} = \frac{x}{3.5} \\ \\ \therefore \: x = 1.55 \times 3.5 \\ \\ \therefore \: x = \$ 5.425 \\ \\\therefore \: x\approx \$5.43
