You had assignment that is over due but you need extra time what is a good excuse to tell your teacher why you need extra time w
Allisa [31]

Answer: Don't make an excuse.

Explanation: Don't lie to your teacher and tell her "your dog ate your homework" and don't say "Your having trouble at home". Tell your teacher the truth, even if the truth is that you were lazy. Just be honest with your teacher and tell him/her that you didn't do it. Do not lie, because Karma can and most definitely will come back to you. We all the know the saying... Karma's a ….. well you get it so, DO NOT LIE. And besides, You never know what your teacher's reaction will be. Who knows maybe he/she will give you extra time to do it or turn it in.

Which part of this excerpt from Voltaire’s Candide best develops the theme that different people find value in different things?
Margarita [4]

Answer:

Excerpt from Voltaire's Candide

Theme: Different people find value in different things.

The theme above is best developed by the request of Earth made by Candide and Cacambo. The king regards this "Earth" as "yellow clay."

Explanation:

It can be inferred from the excerpt that the European visitors know the value of "the earth of the country", which is for them like a productive mother that gives birth to innumerable children. But for the king and his countrymen, the earth was just mere "yellow clay," sterile and without value.

What one undervalues, another values immensely because there is a gap in their knowledge. Abundance of some resources fools those who dwell on top of the resources. Whereas for those who understand the rarity of the resources, they experience scarcity of it because the demand for the resources would outstrip the supply. This is paradoxical.

Match the definition to the word. 1. a thing that represents itself and something else]a. symbolb. imageryc. metaphord. metonymy
mojhsa [17]
 1. A thing that represents itself and something else – symbol. An example would be the dove, or the colour white, symbolizing peace.
 2. One thing IS another – metaphor. What distinguishes the metaphor from the simile is that the metaphor is directly introducing the imagery in the text without a comparison word. An example would be: "he is such a pig."
 3. One thing is like another – simile. The simile introduces the comparison with a word such as "like" or "as." "He eats like an ogre" could be an example.
 4. Mental pictures created through descriptions which appeal to the senses – imagery. In literature, the purpose of imagery is to enrich the text by enabling the reader to picture elements of it in their mind.
 5. Use of one word in place of another word associated with it – metonymy. A common type of metonymy is the designation of something by where it is contained, for example "the White House" for the President's administration.
 6. A word which imitates a sound – onomatopoeia. Such as woof, crack, bang.
 7. Exaggeration – hyperbole.
 8. Apparent contradiction – paradox.
 9. Repetition of initial consonant sounds – alliteration. This is often used in poetry, but also in prose, to help the reader imagine the sounds of the scene which is being described (like lots of Ls when writing about water, or Ss when writing about a snake).
